How a Stapled Stack of Paper Became a Dream
I mentioned in my last post that writing has been my reprieve these last few months. My kids have noticed how healing it’s been for me, and they often try to get involved when they can (which, given their ages, isn’t often!).
My oldest frequently asks about what I’m writing — and when he can read my books. I tell him when he’s older, of course, which he’s never happy about. One night, he stapled a packet of printer paper together and handed it to me.
“Write me a book that I can read,” he said.
Out of that stapled packet of pages came The Day the Colors Came Alive, an interactive coloring book that tells the story of a rainy day where face paints, imagination, and a little magic turn into something unforgettable.
Robbie helped me with the story and chose some of the photos himself. The result? A published coloring book now available on Amazon!
I didn’t create it for publication or profit. I created it so my son — who struggles with dyslexia — could see that he can do anything he sets his mind to. Today, that means he has a published coloring book with his name on it. And he’s so, so proud.
